Dear Harker Families,
Soon, the Harker admission team will be sending you your 2022-23 re-enrollment contract in an email from our enrollment software, Ravenna; please keep an eye out for this email.
As we note each year, it is our privilege and an honor to bring out the best in children at Harker each and every day. Despite the challenges presented by the continued presence of COVID-19, this year has been a very productive and successful one for our students and for the school – including the historic opening of our new middle school campus – and we look forward to continuing the journey in the year ahead.
As was the case heading into the current year, we want to make clear that it is our intention to continue to provide our traditional in-person program for the coming year. We may continue to face requirements from the county or state that would necessitate some program modifications or that would continue to require certain preventative measures – including the likely requirement from the state for students to be vaccinated. However, as long as these do not require us to create a remote program for all or some members of our community, our intention is to operate entirely in an in-person mode.
Last year, knowing that a number of our Harker families had been impacted by COVID-19 in myriad ways, Harker’s board of trustees kept tuition the same as it had been the previous year. This year, we are increasing tuition to a degree correlated with the 4% increase in the Consumer Price Index in the Bay Area plus an additional increase of about 1.25%. This tuition, along with the generous philanthropy of our community, offers our rich and varied academic and curricular offerings, enrichment and supervision from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., our outstanding food service, highly qualified nursing and counseling services, robust libraries, well-trained and caring security, and so much more. The increase in tuition this year above CPI will allow us to continue to fold additional recurring and ancillary costs into tuition so that we can reduce additional billing during the year. A significant additional cost for many families each year are the class trips in which many grades participate, including trips for grades 4-8, and the senior trip in the spring. Our goal is to fold the costs for these trips entirely into tuition over the next three years, and this year the tuition increase will be reflected in lower trip costs for these class trips.
As we continue to deliver the excellence you expect in our programs, we are extremely honored to have your family with us. Our mission continues to be to motivate, challenge and inspire all of our students in academics, extracurricular interests and their personal development, to help them be the best that they can be. We are especially humbled to know that we are carrying on a mission that started more than 125 years ago. We look forward to having you continue with us on the journey!
Wishing you all a wonderful 2022!
Sincerely,
|
