Parent Coffee: LIFE Book Series

We will discuss renowned author Julie Lythcott-Haims’ book, “How to Raise an Adult,” in various ways over three sessions. Everyone is welcome, even if you have yet to read the book. Learn more about Julie Lythcott-Haims.

How to Raise An Adult Book
RSVP for Parts 1, 2 and/or 3
Part 1: Wed., Feb. 8 | 8:30-9:30 a.m. | TK Campus
At this gathering, in small groups with guided questions, we will explore the challenging parenting topics that arise in part 1 of the book. Everyone is welcome, even if you have yet to read the book. Coffee and bagels will be served.

We will meet in the cafe at our transitional kindergarten campus, 888 Boynton Ave., San Jose (across the street from the old Blackford Ave. middle school campus).

Part 2: Tues, Feb. 28 | 5-6 p.m. | Upper School Campus
In this session, we will host a student fishbowl for parents to learn about the Harker student experience. In this model, students will sit in a circle and converse with each other by responding to prompts. Parents will be invited to sit around the circle to listen to the student experience from their perspective. We will leave time to debrief following the student fishbowl.

We will meet on the upper school campus. Exact location TBA.

Part 3: Wed., March 22 | 8:30-9:30 a.m. | TK Campus
In this final session, we will discuss parenting scenarios to utilize strategies discussed in the book. Please come with challenging situations to examine. Everyone is welcome to come to participate, even if you have yet to read part 3 of “How to Raise an Adult.”

We will meet in the cafe at our transitional kindergarten campus, 888 Boynton Ave., San Jose (across the street from the old Blackford Ave. middle school campus).
