Hello, All Employees!
As promised, we’re back with some additional offerings from the Harker Social Club. This time, it’s all about staying healthy!
Below you will find a variety of (mostly) virtual offerings to stay fit and healthy. Our very own Loren Powers, who is a Harker coach and certified personal trainer, will be leading these programs. We also have a local yoga studio offering classes to our students and they have extended their offering to a free class for employees.
Lastly, watch for an email from Tani Gavron in the coming days with some updates on our wellness program and ways that your Harker Social Club participation can accrue points.
Remember, all of these offerings are free for Harker employees. See “Hot Tips” below on how to find these and future events on the calendar.
See you at “The Club!”

All offerings below begin the week of Oct. 5. Sign-ups for all fitness events are on the same Google Doc unless otherwise noted:

——————————————————
In-Person Circuit-Style Training | Mon. & Wed. or Tues & Thurs. 3:30-4:15 p.m.
Circuit-style training is a form of body conditioning that involves endurance training, resistance training, high-intensity aerobics, and exercises performed in a circuit. It includes about 8-10 exercise stations. After completing a station, instead of resting, you move quickly to the next station. A muscular strength and endurance circuit alternates muscle groups, such as upper body, lower body and core, so little or no rest is needed in between stations.

Virtual Functional Movement/Corrective Exercise Training | Mon. & Wed. or Tues. & Thurs. 11:45 a.m.-12:20 p.m., or 12:30-1:05 p.m.
Functional movements train your muscles to work together and prepare them for daily tasks by simulating common movements you might do at home, at work or in sports. Functional fitness is focused on building a body capable of doing real-life activities in real-life positions, not just lifting a certain amount of weight in an idealized posture created by a gym machine.

——————————————————
Lap Swimming |Tues. and Thurs. 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
Use your free time during lunch (if you have any) to enjoy a quick swim in the pool! It is a great way to rejuvenate the body, perform no impact resistance training, and increase overall body strength. Email Loren Powers with any questions you have.

——————————————————
Mobility Fridays | Fri. 3:45-4:30 p.m.
Every Friday (with a few exceptions) we will be hosting a Zoom mobility session for our students, and we would like to extend this offer to faculty/staff! It will be a routine focused on stretching muscles and mobilizing joints to decrease muscle tension and return our bodies to a better resting state.
