Dear Lower and Middle School Parents,
Common Sense Media provides reliable, research-based and relevant curriculum and reviews for parents and educators. This national organization has long been the authority on digital literacy topics and The Harker School is a Common Sense Media premier school, along with other local private schools. Harker teachers use and adapt some of the Common Sense Media curriculum to support our students’ digital growth and education.
One of the biggest struggles families have is how to manage and support children’s digital lives, much of which is lived in social media. Social media has great potential for good and it’s important that we have a clear understanding of how our students are using social media.
As part of our Harker Parent Connect series, we’re hosting a Common Sense Media student panel called “Notes to My Middle School Self” on Wed., Feb. 5 from 9-10:30 a.m. in the Blackford Theater. We’d love to have you join us and hear from our own students about their experiences and their advice that you can then take and use in our collective efforts to raise responsible and thoughtful digital citizens.
This event is only for parents, and is open to the public, so parents from other schools will also be in attendance. While Harker parents of any grade may attend, the topic is geared toward lower and middle school ages.
Hope to see you there!
