Thank you for sharing some of your fun anecdotes about the remote learning experiences your children have had for our upcoming Harker News story. We can use more so keep them coming to communications@harker.org!
Here are the latest stories and announcements. We are so proud of our students, parents and alumni and the wonderful things they are doing as we work together through this historic time.
Here are a few especially inspiring projects:
PPEs for Harker Healthcare Workers
Harker parents from I Got Games, Inc. (IGG), Mark Zhang, and Tianmu Education Foundation, Vivian Shao, are teaming up on an initiative to get PPEs to any Harker parents and alumni who are working in healthcare or as first responders. This is phase two of a broader large-scale outreach distribution by IGG and Tianmu that has been donating PPEs to hospitals and China and the U.S. since February. Student-run, Schoolwide Fundraiser Partners with San Jose Mayor
The upper school ASB and student council have launched a donation drive to support Silicon Valley Strong, an initiative started by San Jose mayor Sam Liccardo that delivers aid to households put at risk of displacement during the COVID-19 pandemic due to factors such as illness, joblessness and lack of income. Small businesses and local organizations are also receiving assistance. Here’s a message from Mayor Liccardo about Harker’s project:

The donation drive, run entirely by the students and supported by all divisions, was launched by the upper school students to provide Silicon Valley Strong with more funding, which has become necessary due to the high demand for aid. The drive started Wednesday and is currently scheduled to end Sun., May 10. Support those in need and the students’ efforts by donating here:
