This is a Zoom meeting. If you do not have Zoom, you will be prompted to download the free app when you go to join the meeting.

The Harker School’s middle school campus construction was approved by the San Jose City Council on March 10, 2020. We held a pre-construction community webinar in May. Construction began June 5, 2020 and will continue until completion in August 2021.

Since 2012, we have been committed to being good neighbors in the Cambrian community. We are hosting this Zoom meeting to provide information about our construction plans and answer any questions you may have.

If you are unable to join us at the meeting, you can visit our Good Neighbors page on our website and subscribe to our mailing list to receive a recap of the meeting and receive pertinent updates on our project. Feel free to contact us at any time at communications@harker.org if you have any questions or suggestions.

We look forward to strengthening our partnership with our neighbors and the community. We hope you are all doing well, and we wish you all a safe and restful Thanksgiving.

Warm regards,

Brian Yager, Head of School
Mike Bassoni, Director of Operations (and neighborhood liaison during construction)
Pam Dickinson, Office of Communication Director
The Harker School

Project Background:
Harker purchased the property in 2012 to eventually move students off of our leased campus property on Blackford Avenue. Our approved permit was for 600 students, and we opened a preschool on the site until we were ready for the move, which will be for the 2021-22 school year. We submitted plans to the city of San Jose in 2017 for the needed modifications, which include the demolition of three small existing academic buildings to be replaced with a new two-story classroom building, an addition to the existing auditorium/gym, and other site improvements such as extending the driveway used for drop-off and pickup and adding more outdoor play/sports areas. We held numerous neighbor meetings to answer questions and address any concerns. Amendments were consequently made based on community input, and the permit was approved by the City Council at their March 10, 2020 meeting. All of the documents related to this project are posted for public record.
