To the Greater Harker Community,
We invite our current and alumni families and students, as well as faculty and staff, to be our guests at a special reception and discussion, as part of the current residency of the Dickinson Visual Arts Endowment.

A reception will be at 5 p.m., where we hope you will help us toast Pantea Karimi with some bubbly or a glass of wine (non-alcoholic drinks will be available). Enjoy small bites that honor the yellow, black and triangle themes of the project.

Karimi will speak at 6 p.m. Both the reception and the talk will be in the Rothschild Performing Arts Center.

Please RSVP by Fri., Nov. 24
Pantea Karimi began her residency on Nov. 1 and is conducting a series of workshops with lower, middle and upper school art students. Her installation is in the gallery of the Rothschild Performing Arts Center.

Taking the cue from her research on Iran’s historic, religious and scientific manuscripts and objects, Karimi’s work highlights Iran’s visual culture and personal narratives. Her works have been exhibited internationally including exhibitions in Iran, Algeria, Germany, Croatia, Mexico, the U.K. and the U.S.

Karimi has received the 2022 Pollock-Krasner Foundation Artist Grant, the 2022 Mass MoCA the Studios Residency Award, the 2021 University of California San Francisco Library Artist in Residence Award, the 2020 San Jose Holding the Moment Art Award, the 2019 City of San Jose Arts and Cultural Exchange Grant, the 2019 Silicon Valley Artist Laureates Award, and the 2017 Kala Fellowship-Residency Award. She is a member of the Substantial Motion Research Network for scholars and practitioners interested in the cross-cultural exploration of digital media and philosophy.

The Dickinson Visual Arts Endowment was created in 2021 to support Harker’s visual arts programs and students as well as deepen the school’s connection to the wider international arts community. Previous artists-in-residence of the endowment were Berlin-based painter and performance artist Britta Clausnitzer, and Bay Area-based color artist Leah Rosenberg.

For questions about this endowment and other opportunities to support our students, contact Kim Lobe, director of advancement.
