To Our Alumni,

I would like to update you on the AIM Survey, and also invite you to save the dates and register for this spring’s Town Hall events (registration link at bottom of email).

AIM SURVEY UPDATE
As you recall, we partnered with the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) to administer their Assessment of Inclusivity and Multiculturalism Survey (AIM) to all of our constituents last January. The survey was sent to current families, alumni, alumni families, trustees, board of fellows, faculty and staff, and current students in grades 5-12. Many of you participated and we thank you so much for taking the time to complete the survey.

While much of the information from this survey is intended to help guide our strategic planning in the areas of diversity, equity and inclusion, we wanted to share highlights of pertinent data with you here. We continue to analyze all of the data and will find it incredibly informative in helping us strengthen our community and ensure it is a safe, nurturing and inspiring place for all. Again, we thank those who participated, and for helping Harker be the best it can be.

I would like to thank Greg Lawson, assistant head of school for student affairs, for being Harker’s AIM coordinator with NAIS and leading the following steering committee of dedicated Harker employees through months of preparing and executing this comprehensive survey.

Kristina Alaniz, Director of Alumni Relations
Tyeshia Brown, Diversity Committee Tri-Chair, Administrative Assistant to Student Affairs
Pam Dickinson, Office of Communication Director
Jennifer Gargano, Assistant Head of School, Academic Affairs
Mark Janda, Diversity Committee Tri-Chair, History Department Chair
Greg Lawson, Assistant Head of School, Student Affairs (AIM Coordinator)
Caitlin MacCalla, Diversity Committee Member, Middle School Counselor

This has been a year of tragedy and heartache in the world. We will never be the same because of it. It has also been a year of extraordinary kindness, compassion and strength that has reinforced, yet again, the generosity and passion within the Harker community. I am honored to serve you all.

Thank you and be well,
Brian Yager

TOWN HALLS
Tues., June 8, 5:30-7 p.m. for alumni and parents
Wed., June 9, 5:30-7 p.m. for staff and students

We invite you to join our second round of Town Halls in June. The primary goal of these town halls is for the school to share updates, and to provide community members an opportunity to ask questions and provide input that will help the school enhance and focus our efforts and impact in the coming years. These town halls will include an update from the Harker Diversity Committee on the school’s work in this area over the past year. The events will include discussions of essential questions, as well as an open mic time for additional comments.
