I am so delighted that you are interested in Harker’s upper school for your child! I think Harker is an amazing and inspiring place, both for students and for faculty and staff.

I love how our students dive fully into their academic studies. Our teachers don’t just hand students information; they teach them to think like scientists, painters, computer programmers and poets, and they show up to cheer at athletic events and performances just as often as they do in the classroom.

But we care just as much about the rest of the human experience: helping students find purpose, discover meaning in daily life and contribute to a warm, caring community. At this year’s senior retreat, for example, students spent a breakout session exploring what it means to lead a meaningful life and what legacy they want to leave.

Some of my favorite moments happen between classes, when a few students rush into my office toward the cookie jar, grab the last of the homemade cookies and dash off to class wishing me a great day. Every day is a great day to be an Eagle, especially when the cookie jar is full.

Each October, Harker Day brings our entire TK-12 community and alumni together to celebrate Harker and our students, and throughout the year, students enjoy dances, spirit events, performances, games, assemblies and so much more.
