About the Event
Organized by Harker’s Women in STEM Club (WiSTEM), this huge annual community event showcases the discoveries of Harker’s young scientists and alumni, honors the work of career scientists and entrepreneurs, and celebrates Silicon Valley’s innovative spirit. “We capitalize on Harker’s proximity to world class technology development to boost the symposium beyond a showcase for student projects into the realm of opening visitors’ minds to new ideas as they emerge,” noted Anita Chetty, science department chair and WiSTEM advisor. The event includes the following:
Dozens of talks by Siemens/Regeneron/Synopsys competitors, semifinalists and finalists
More than 40 poster sessions by middle and upper school students
Panel on technical writing, research internships and research competitions
Panel on "Diversity and Inclusion in the STEM Workplace"
Interactive displays by corporate exhibitors
STEM activities for preschool and lower school students
Pre-registered workshop for upper school students: "Deep Learning Workshop on Neural Style Transfer"
